Laine Magazine, No. 9.

We recently welcomed another beautiful new issue of Laine Magazine, their ninth. Let’s look inside!

Laine Magazine is a publication out of Finland, a knitting and lifestyle magazine with a love of natural fibers as its focus, and a reputation for beautiful designs and tantalizing photography.

The editors of Laine have recently shared that they’re taking a break from producing the magazine, and that this issue may be their last. We’ve loved seeing Laine grow over the past few years, and hope that slowing down will allow them to continue to create this special publication.

Inside this issue of Laine, you’ll find lovely things to knit, a travel guide to Munich, tasty-looking things to cook, essays and profiles of fiber artists from all over the world, too. One such profile, of knitwear designer and teacher Lavanya Patricella, has been edited since going to print – please read the current version on Laine’s website, along with statements from Lavanya Patricella and Laine about the changes.

Two familiar yarns showed up in this issue – Marianne Munier’s “Lumi” is knit with Brooklyn Tweed Loft, and North Carolina designer Rachel Brockman’s “Pinaceae” is knit with Fibre Company Lore.

Come by the shop to page through Laine – at the moment, we have issues 7, 8, and 9 available.

While you’re here, take some time to browse our other books and magazines as well – there are so many new publications to see this month. We hope you find inspiration here!

Laine Magazine, No. 8.

A beautiful new issue of Laine Magazine just arrived – let’s look inside issue No. 8.

Laine Magazine is a publication out of Finland, a knitting and lifestyle magazine with a love of natural fibers as its focus, and a reputation for beautiful designs and tantalizing photography.

Inside this issue of Laine, you’ll find lovely things to knit, designed by Justyna Lorkowska, Denise Bayron, and others, and tasty-looking things to cook, too.

This cable and lace wrap by Jenny Sauselin shows Brooklyn Tweed Loft at its best, that particular intersection between cozy and light.

Perhaps the biggest draw of this issue, however, is all the good reading – interviews with botanical dyer Ocean Rose and vintage inspired designer Susan Crawford, accompanied by photographs by Kate O’Sullivan, and a thoughtful column on representation and inclusivity by Jeanette Sloane.

Like Pom Pom, the creators of Laine are responding to conversations around racism and other biases in the knitting industry by making mindful attempts to include a wider variety of voices and faces in their publication. We are heartened to see this!

Laine Magazine, No. 7.

A beautiful new issue of Laine Magazine just arrived – let’s look inside issue No. 7.

Laine Magazine is a publication out of Finland, a knitting and lifestyle magazine with a love of natural fibers and handicraft as its focus. It’s only a couple of years old, but it already has quite a following, and a reputation for beautiful designs and tantalizing photography.

Inside this issue of Laine, you’ll find knitting patterns from Nancy Marchant, Stephen West, Kristin Drysdale, Carol Feller, and others, profiles on designer Veera Välimäki and the Fibre Company, and a travel guide to London.

One of the standout designs of this issue, in my opinion, is Kristin Drysdale’s “Marit,” a steeked colorwork cardigan knit with Tukuwool Fingering. I’m only able to resist casting on right away because I’m currently knitting a steeked colorwork cardigan with Tukuwool Fingering!

Today we welcomed another beautiful new issue of Laine Magazine.

Laine Magazine is a relatively new publication out of Finland, a knitting and lifestyle magazine with a love of natural fibers and handicraft as its focus.

This issue is only the fourth, but already, it’s developed quite a following, such that we had a waitlist full of knitters to contact as soon as this issue arrived. By the end of the day, Anne was on the phone ordering another batch – our supply was already half gone!

Inside Laine, you’ll find a mix of knitting patterns, articles, recipes, profiles on Jared Flood and other fiber artists, and a travel guide to Paris.

Sarah Pope’s “Kennings Yoke” caught our eye as soon as the first previews of this issue came out earlier in the month. Knit with Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, this sweater is decorated with texture at the yoke and at the bottom hem, an intriguing detail.

The hat on the cover of this issue is knit with Brooklyn Tweed, too – Quarry, for a quick and cozy knit. I spotted another familiar yarn among this group, too – Emily Greene’s “Rift” cowl is knit with Swans Island All American Worsted, a personal favorite of mine.
