Join this class for guidance and camaraderie as we knit Isabel Kraemer's beautiful "Nasrin," Persian for "wild rose." "Nasrin" is a top-down colorwork yoke pullover, knit with a single strand of fingering weight yarn. It includes short row shaping which is knit flat for the back of the neck, and then switches to working in the round. Choose between the "solid" or "outlined" colorwork motif at the yoke - both charts are included in the pattern. Once the yoke is complete, there are a few short rows before separating for the sleeves and knitting down to the hem. Sleeves are worked in the round to the cuff and there are two choices for finishing the neck.
During the first class we will read through the pattern, discuss color dominance, and short rows. Homework will be to swatch in the round and to block the swatch. In the next class, we will determine our gauge and begin the actual sweater.
"Nasrin" is size inclusive, offering sizes 35.75" - 64.25" for finished bust circumference.
Experience: Students should be comfortable casting on, knitting and purling, working in the round, and be familiar with colorwork and charts. Sweater knitting experience is a plus, but is not required.
Materials:
- "Nasrin" pattern by Isabel Kraemer, available to purchase from Ravelry
- Yarn: we recommend a fingering weight wool, like Kelbourne Woolens Camper, Cricket, Brooklyn Tweed Loft, or Tones Light
- Sizes: 35.75 (39, 43, 46.25, 49.75)(53.75, 57, 61, 64.25)" finished bust circumference
- 1039 (1149, 1236, 1334, 1443)(1589, 1675, 1783, 1942) yds in main color
- 107 (114, 121, 131, 147)(164, 164, 164, 164) yds in contrast color
- Needles:
- US 2 1/2 (3 mm) 16” (40 cm) and 32” (80 cm) circular needle and DPNs (or longer circular needle for magic loop) for neck CO, body and sleeve ribbing.
- US 3 (3.25 mm) 16” (40 cm) and 32” (80 cm) circular needle and DPNs (or longer circular needle for magic loop) for body and sleeves

Learn to knit socks with a simple free pattern, "Rye Light," by Tin Can Knits. "Rye Light" is knit from the cuff down on double pointed needles and features a simple rib, garter stitch and stockinette leg, and heel flap. In the first class, Anne will guide students through pattern reading, sock construction, and casting on; homework will be to knit through completion of the heel flap. The second class will cover the heel and gusset; completing the foot will be the homework. The final class will cover the decreases and kitchener stitch that close the toe.
Experience: Students should be comfortable knitting and purling; knitting in the round is helpful. Students should plan to complete homework (knitting) between classes.
