Learn to Knit Socks
Instructor: Anne Derby
Wednesdays: December 4 and 18, 2024, and January 8, 2025; 5:45-7:45 pm.
Learn to knit socks with a simple free pattern, "Rye Light," by Tin Can Knits. "Rye Light" is knit from the cuff down on double pointed needles and features a simple rib, garter stitch and stockinette leg, and heel flap. In the first class, Anne will guide students through pattern reading, sock construction, and casting on; homework will be to knit through completion of the heel flap. The second class will cover the heel and gusset; completing the foot will be the homework. The final class will cover the decreases and kitchener stitch that close the toe.
Experience: Students should be comfortable knitting and purling; knitting in the round is helpful. Students should plan to complete homework (knitting) between classes.
