Join Katherine’s class to crochet an adorable three-color stuffed cattle dog. Students will learn how to read an Amigurumi pattern, crochet in 3-dimensional shapes with increase and decrease stitches, change colors, add facial features, use stuffing for shaping, and assemble the sections to complete the dog.

Experience: Students should be comfortable with chaining, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and reading a basic crochet pattern.

Materials needed:

• Pattern: “Cody the Cattle Dog,” by Jess Huff, available as a free download from Ravelry
• Yarn: aran, worsted, or DK weight yarn in 3 colors
  • Main color (medium gray): 151 yards
  • Contrast color (light gray): 72 yards
  • Accent color (dark gray): 30 yards
• Crochet hook 1-2 sizes smaller than recommended for yarn
• Notions: stitch markers, darning needle, scissors, straight pins, fiber fill for stuffing

Materials provided:

• safety eyes
• 3 yards of pink yarn for Cody’s tongue

This three class series will cover the basics of crochet, including the following stitches: chain, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet. Students will also practice changing colors and reading basic crochet patterns.

Note: We love to encourage young, new crocheters but do require that a minor and their parent both register for class in order for all students to benefit.

Experience needed: none – this is a class for folks who have never crocheted before!

• Size G or H crochet hook
• Materials are available for purchase at the shop

Join this class to hone your crochet skills as you make a shawl. Pick one of the following patterns, and Katherine will guide you through the process:

• “Serene Lines Shawl” – top-down triangular shawl (pictured here)
• “Red River Shawl” – modular rectangular shawl with hexagon motifs
• “Black Raspberry Shawl” – top-down triangular shawl
• “Jaffa Shawl” – top-down triangular shawl

In class, we will review how hook size will affect the drape of the finished fabric, how to work increases, how to read your crochet stitches, and how to apply a finished edge.

Experience needed: Students should be familiar with basic crochet stitches such as chain, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet. Some very basic experience reading a simple crochet pattern will also be helpful, and we will cover more in class.
