Three new magazines.

This week we got three new magazines in, each one filled with knitting projects, tutorials, stories, and other inspiration. Knit.Wear has bunches of modern-looking sweater patterns, along with a tutorial on choosing the right cast-ons and bind-offs for each project you make. Knit Simple’s Holiday 2012 issue offers patterns for gift-knitting, grouped by their intended … [more]

Interweave Crochet, and Lantern Moon hooks.

The latest issue of Interweave Crochet is here, and pleasantly full of good-looking crocheted sweaters for Fall. We also replenished our supply of Lantern Moon crochet hooks recently, so you can find most any size hook you may need, made of rosewood or ebony, no less.  Crocheters, come by the shop to begin planning your … [more]

Interweave Knits: Holiday Gifts, 2012.

The Holiday Gifts issue of Interweave Knits is here, while there’s still time to knit those gifts before the holidays are upon us. This issue is filled with knitted accessories, children’s things, christmas stockings, and other home decor. Flipping through it, I saw plenty of colorwork to keep things interesting, and cables, too. This hat … [more]

Vogue Knitting.

This Fall marks the 30th anniversary for the popular Vogue Knitting magazine, and the anniversary issue is now available at the shop. Inside, you’ll find many fashion-forward knitting projects, as is typical for Vogue. In particular, I was impressed by the article on traditional Aran knitting, and a slew of cabled patterns that accompany it. … [more]

Crochet Traditions.

We got another new magazine in at the shop this week. Crochet Traditions is here, full of interesting articles, photos of intricate crocheted heirlooms, and patterns and techniques to keep your hooks busy. I was particularly intrigued by an article on tobacco twine crochet, a regional crochet tradition local to North Carolina. According to the … [more]

Creative Knitting and Knit Simple.

Two more Fall magazines arrived this week: Creative Knitting and Knit Simple. Each one boasts a collection of cowls, and the one that caught my eye was in Creative Knitting, made from Cascade Rustic in a rich red. Rustic, if you’ll recall, is specially discounted this month. A cowl is a great project for this … [more]

KnitScene.

The Fall issue of KnitScene is here, with more fodder for our cold-weather daydreams. This issue offers sweaters, shawls, and accessories, one of which stood out to me in particular. These cabled fingerless mitts are made out of Zitron Kimono, a sport-weight blend of merino wool and silk that we happen to stock at the … [more]

Vogue.

After nearly a week of 90 and 100 degree days here in North Carolina, the Early Fall 2012 issue of Vogue Knitting Magazine seems a bit premature. Lovely to look at, though, and with strong air-conditioning, we can knit not only for early fall, but also for mid-winter. (The shop is nice and chilly these … [more]

knit.wear.

Back in October, Interweave published a special issue called knit.wear, filled with simple cardigans, pullovers, and vests. Anne and I loved the look of it, as did many of you. This week, knit.wear is back with a new issue for Spring 2012.   This issue of knit.wear boasts accessories along with the garments; cowls, hats, … [more]

Interweave Crochet.

The Summer 2012 issue of Interweave Crochet arrived this past week, followed a few days later by a new book of crocheted blankets, Robyn Chachula’s Unexpected Afghans. Between these two new publications, there’s sure to be inspiration for most any crocheter. Unexpected Afghans is particularly intriguing, using many varied crochet techniques with lovely results. Come … [more]
