New prints from Binkwaffle.

We’re so happy to have five new prints from Binkwaffle on our shelves!

Binkwaffles are colorful, reversible, dumpling-shaped project bags. Knitters and crocheters love them because they’re both functional and whimsical. Usually we order a random assortment of whatever fabrics Holly has on hand, but when we heard that she was debuting new prints, we wanted them right away.

Holly’s latest creations are full of colorful creatures. We’ve got blue and white elephants, orange and aqua foxes, and black and white puppies, along with aqua pineapples and pink and orange flowers.

A large Binkwaffle bag is roomy enough to accommodate a big wrap, baby blanket, or sweater in progress. The small size, on the other hand, is a perfect way to tote a hat, sock, cowl, or pair of mitts in progress.

Come by the shop to see them all, and come quickly or call ahead if there’s a particular style you’d like to claim; these colorful bags sell fast!

See you at the shop!

Binkwaffle season.

The past month or so has brought at least three shipments of Binkwaffle bags our way. These reversible, dumpling-shaped project bags are always in demand, but especially during the holidays, when they become part of so many gifts.

These Alpaca print Binkwaffles have been a favorite since they first showed up in July; we do love our fiber animals around here.

Hedgehogs and Bloom are the newest fabrics from Holly at Binkwaffle. The material on these is slightly heavier than Binkwaffle bags we’ve had before, an upgrade for those who like a sturdy, go-anywhere tote for their projects.

Please note that we’ll be closing on Sunday, December 24th and Sunday, December 31st, but are otherwise open at our usual business hours. Happy holidays!

New from Cocoknits.

Cocoknits is the brainchild of Julie Weisenberger, a knitwear designer and purveyor of high quality tools for knitters. She’s carefully developed notions that are as nice to use as they are to look at.

Her foam Stitch Stoppers are the best point protectors we’ve seen, and since they first appeared last year, they quickly replaced any other kind we used to stock at the shop. No longer are the small and large sizes sold separately; now each pack comes with Stoppers for a range of needle sizes from US 0-15, and you can choose from Colorful or Neutral.

Even more exciting is a brand new product from Cocoknits, a Natural Mesh Bag to hold your yarn as you work.

The Natural Mesh Bag does the job of a yarn bowl, protecting your yarn from rolling about, keeping it safe and sound. Unlike a yarn bowl, however, this bag is lightweight, flexible, and easy to throw into a knitting tote to travel with you. It can sit open or you can snap up the top. Here it is in action, holding my Isager Jensen Yarn as I work on my “Summer Fog” vest, a sample for the shop.

Anne keeps her Shibui Birch in a Natural Mesh Bag as she’s knitting her “Icon” wrap. Just ask her and she’ll be happy to put it in your hands so you can see what it’s like out of its box. Look for them near the Cocoknits Sweater Care Kit in the front room, near the ballwinder – see you there!

Usually we order a random assortment of whatever fabrics Holly has on hand, but when we heard that she was debuting new prints, we wanted them right away.

Anne was particularly excited about the alpaca print, and snagged one for herself as we unpacked the box.

This shipment was full of small Binkwaffles, just the right size for carrying a hat, cowl, pair of socks, or shawlette in progress.

However, there was one entirely new product in the box this time: meet the Binkwaffle Zipper Clutch!

DSCN6102

The Zipper Clutch is just the right size for a notions case, perfect for holding your scissors, cable needle, stitch markers, and other little tools. It’d make a nice purse, too, with just enough room for your essentials, and a removable 6″ loop to hang around your wrist, or hold your keys.

Holly has been saving scraps from all the bags she’s produced and using them to make these zipper clutches, so they’ll match some of the small and large Binkwaffle bags we have in stock, as well as some of the Binkwaffle bags you may have at home.

Hello, Jul Forager bags.

Every year, we go to market hoping to find something that surprises us, something we didn’t know we were looking for. We didn’t go to market looking for elegant leather bags, handmade in the USA, but once we saw them, we knew we had to have them at the shop. Say hello to these Forager bags, from Jul Designs!

DSCN5073

We have Forager bags in two sizes. The Forager Market Bag is a generous 18″ wide x 14″ tall x 5″ deep, a simple, streamlined tote made of lightweight leather. It’s big enough to carry a large project, along with your notions, a pattern book or two, and other necessities.

DSCN5076

They are unlined, save for a cream-colored lining at the bottom, making it easy to spot what you’re looking for as you shuffle through the contents of your bag. We also asked that Laura, designer and owner of Jul Designs, include little metal feet on the bottom, to protect the bag when it’s set on the floor.

DSCN5077

The Sweety Forager Bag is a smaller version of the same style, at 13.5″ wide x 9.5″ tall x 4″ deep. It’s big enough to function as a small purse, but would make an equally lovely project bag, with room enough for the essentials.

DSCN5083

We fell hard for these bags! Anne picked a Forager Market Bag for herself in black, Rosi went with red, and I wound up with one in brown.

Check out our selection of Jul Forager bags next time you’re at the shop! We hope you love them as much as we do.

Back in stock: Binkwaffle bags.

I’m so happy to report that Binkwaffle bags are back in stock, in small and large sizes and some new fabrics, too!

DSCN4952

I can hardly believe it’s been less than a year since we found out about Binkwaffle bags and started carrying them here at the shop; they’ve so quickly become a staple. We’ve sold out and reordered many times since then, and with good reason: Binkwaffle bags are as functional and useful as they are adorable.

DSCN4951

These project bags are soft but sturdy, fully reversible, and constructed in a clever dumpling shape.

DSCN4948

A large Binkwaffle bag is roomy enough to accommodate a big wrap, baby blanket, or sweater in progress. The small size, on the other hand, is a perfect way to tote a hat, sock, cowl, or pair of mitts in progress. You might just have to have one of each…

Binkwaffle bags tend to sell quickly, so come by soon for the best selection of fabrics. See you at the shop!

Back in stock: Binkwaffle bags.

Our supply of Binkwaffle bags had dwindled to just one lonesome bag when we got a package from Holly at Binkwaffle and breathed a sigh of relief.

DSCN4473

We’re so happy to have these back on our shelves!

DSCN4474

This order brought a a mix of small and large reversible bags, each one a unique combination of fabrics.

DSCN4472

DSCN4469

The small bags are a good size for a pair of socks or mitts, a hat or scarf, perhaps. The large bags are big enough to house a generous shawl or even a sweater.

Binkwaffle bags are being snapped up as quickly as ever, so come by the shop soon to snag one of your own! See you there.
