Hello, Brooklyn Tweed Ranch 02.

We are delighted to announce that Brooklyn Tweed’s newest yarn has arrived!

Meet Ranch 02, the second in Brooklyn Tweed’s series of ranch-specific, small-batch yarns.

Ranch 02 is a worsted weight, woolen-spun, limited edition, ranch-specific Rambouillet yarn, which means every fiber in these skeins was sourced from a single flock of sheep living on Forbes Ranch in Kaycee, Wyoming.

Brooklyn Tweed has always sought to highlight single breed wools and support US ranchers with sustainable environmental practices. This project allows them to shine a spotlight on the people and practices behind their yarns, one ranch at a time. You can learn more about Forbes Ranch from a lovely video produced by BT – it gives a good sense of the people who made this yarn possible.

After the wool was sourced at Forbes Ranch in Wyoming, scoured at Bollman Industries in Texas, and spun at Crescent Woolen Mill in Wisconsin, it traveled to Pennsylvania to be dyed at Caledonian Dye Works. The 10-color palette is inspired by the landscape of northern Wyoming, and the sheep that roam the land.

What to knit with Ranch 02? Anything that calls for Shelter, Ranch 01, or worsted weight yarn of any kind. Here are a few ideas from the BT archive, all available to purchase from Ravelry and many available in print here at the shop:

Looking beyond Brooklyn Tweed designs, here are a few other patterns that would be great for Ranch 02:

Jared Flood has also designed two new patterns especially for Ranch 02, a textured yoke pullover and a cabled hat. As a special treat, you can get a coupon for a free download of Flood’s “Tillage Hat” with any purchase of Ranch 02 here at our shop!

Koigu Collector’s Club: Jeans.

The Koigu Collector’s Club continues! Each month, we’ll receive a batch of KPPPM in a limited edition color dyed especially for a select group of local yarn stores that carry Koigu.

The inspiration for this batch is Jeans, and the yarn is fittingly streaked with shades of denim blue and ivory. Dyed on KPPPM, Koigu’s signature fingering weight superwash merino wool, this variegated colorway is ideal for making shawls, cowls, baby sweaters, and of course, socks.

Our new Baggu project bags are a perfect match, denim totes styled after plastic grocery bags.

You’ll find this limited edition colorway of Koigu KPPPM in our fingering weight section while supplies last!

Dream in Color Sock-It Club: September.

The Dream in Color Sock-It Club is back! This time around, each limited edition skein comes with a 100-yard mini skein for coordinating heels and toes.

“I designed the main skein color to be half peach and half wine to create amazingly bold striped socks,” writes dyer Veronica. “Just like Sangria is not complete without all the delicious fruits, like apples, oranges, limes, and strawberries, the sock kits really pop with the fruity-colored coordinating mini skein!”

The base is Smooshy, a tightly-plied fingering weight yarn that’s ideal for sock knitting, composed of 85% superwash merino and 15% nylon for strength.

Koigu Collector’s Club: Fall Fair Midway.

The Koigu Collector’s Club continues! Each month, we’ll receive a batch of KPPPM in a limited edition color dyed especially for a select group of local yarn stores that carry Koigu.

Dyed on KPPPM, Koigu’s signature fingering weight superwash merino wool, Fall Fair Midway is ideal for making shawls, cowls, baby sweaters, and of course, socks.

This eye-catching colorway is gray with splashes of rainbow brights, conjuring dark night skies with bright neon lights.

You’ll find this limited edition colorway of Koigu KPPPM in our fingering weight section while supplies last – it’s already been a popular one, so call us if you’re anxious to get your hands on it!

Dream in Color Pop Up! Club: September.

Dream in Color’s Pop Up! Club is back! Every month, we’re getting a special new colorway from Dream in Color, a Tucson-based producer of small batch hand-dyed yarns. August’s new limited edition colorway is here while supplies last!

This month, dyer Veronica has painted the colors of autumn on Dream in Color’s aptly-named Smooshy with Cashmere.

Smooshy with Cashmere is a super soft blend of superwash merino wool, cashmere, and nylon – perfect for a special shawl or pair of socks. A skein like this would make a great “Starshower,” “Pebble Beach Shawl,” “Sockhead Slouch Hat” or “Sockhead Cowl,” all patterns that do well with variegated yarn. Look for more pattern ideas on our “Fingering weight” board over on Pinterest.

You’ll find this limited edition colorway in the fingering weight section here at our shop, along with other special skeins from Dream in Color. See you there!

Koigu Collector’s Club: Summer Love.

The Koigu Collector’s Club continues! Each month, we’ll receive 21 skeins of KPPPM in a limited edition color dyed especially for a select group of local yarn stores that carry Koigu.

Dyed on KPPPM, Koigu’s signature fingering weight superwash merino wool, Summer Love is ideal for making shawls, cowls, baby sweaters, and of course, socks.

This highly variegated colorway blends all the colors of the rainbow, conjuring bright tie-dyed shirts or boxes of crayons. Orange, purple, gold, red, pink, sky blue, and indigo – these are playful skeins!

We still have small quantities of some previous Koigu Collector’s Club colorways on hand – Rebirth, Tulips, and Birch – and it’s fun to see how they relate to one another, to combine them for stripes and fades. Think “ZickZack Scarf,” “Koigu Linen Stitch Scarf,” and “Free Your Fade.”

You’ll find this limited edition colorway of Koigu KPPPM in our fingering weight section, among a variety of inspiring sock yarns. See you at the shop!

Dream in Color Sock-It Club: July.

The Dream in Color Sock-It Club is back! This time around, each limited edition skein comes with a 100-yard mini skein for coordinating heels and toes.

July’s colorway is inspired by green tiger barbs, flashy fish that swim in dyer Veronica’s aquarium. It’s a variegated mix of aqua, teal, and silvery blue, with little dots of green that echo the accompanying olive mini-skein.

The base is Smooshy, a tightly-plied fingering weight yarn that’s ideal for sock knitting, composed of 85% superwash merino and 15% nylon for strength.

Limited Edition colors in Brooklyn Tweed Arbor!

Something new has arrived from Brooklyn Tweed – two limited edition colors in Arbor!

Brooklyn Tweed Arbor is a 3-ply DK weight yarn composed of 100% Targhee wool. Like Brooklyn Tweed Vale and Peerie, it’s worsted-spun, and skein-dyed in solid colors at the organically-certified Saco River Dyehouse in Maine.

These two shades bring a welcome pop of color to Brooklyn Tweed’s color palette, standing out from their closest neighbors on the Arbor color wheel.

Azalea is a vibrant pink, just like the flowering shrub it’s named for.

Viridian is a bright green somewhere between emerald and teal.

I’m looking forward to seeing them combined in multicolor projects, like Andrea Mowry’s “Tincture” hat, Shannon Cook’s “Atmen” shawl, Jared Flood’s “Bevel” scarf, or Caitlin Hunter’s popular colorwork pullovers, “Soldotna Crop” and “Tecumseh.” If you’re seeking a small one-color project, consider Emily Greene’s “Shear,” Jared Flood’s “Burnaby” hat or “High Pines Cowl.”

Look for Brooklyn Tweed Arbor in the DK weight section here at our shop, and hurry in if either of these colors is your heart’s desire – we have limited quantities available. See you soon!

Dream in Color Pop Up! Club: May.

Dream in Color’s Pop Up! Club continues! Every month, we’re getting a special new colorway from Dream in Color, a Tucson-based producer of small batch hand-dyed yarns. May’s new limited edition colorway is here while supplies last!

Smooshy with Cashmere is the featured yarn again this month, dyed in a limited edition variegated colorway, streaked with gray, ochre, and shades of pink from pale rose to fuschia.

Veronica of Dream in Color tells us this colorway is inspired by Parry’s Penstemon, one of her favorite Sonoran desert wildflowers.

You’ll find this limited edition colorway in the fingering weight section here at our shop, and hurry in if you want to snag one – these special Dream in Color shades don’t last long!

Shibui Limited Edition Color: Riviera.

Shibui has just released a brand new Limited Edition Color, and we’re delighted to have it on our shelves now!

Riviera is the shade, a bright teal that’s just right for the season.

Riviera comes in eight of Shibui’s yarns: lace weight Lunar, Pebble, and Silk Cloud, fingering weight Reed and Staccato, sport weight Fern, and DK weight Rain and Vine.

With so many yarns, there are lots of ways to get a bit of Riviera onto your needles; for an accessory, consider the “Sunstone Cowl” in Lunar, “Spectrum” in Rain and Silk Cloud, “Oasis” in Fern, “Simone” in Rain and Reed, “Ossa” in Silk Cloud and Pebble, or “Torrent” in Rain, all of which are free when you buy the Shibui yarns to make them.

Come by the shop soon to see Riviera for yourself, and plan your next project!
