Dream in Color Pop-Up Club: October 2022.

Dream in Color’s Pop Up Club is back! Every month, we’re getting a special new colorway from Dream in Color, a Tucson-based producer of small batch hand-dyed yarns. October’s new limited edition colorway is here while supplies last!

Dream in Color Smooshy Cashmere:

  • fingering weight
  • 70% superwash merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon
  • 400 yards/100g
  • $34 each

October’s special colorway is a semisolid teal that plays well with other solid or variegated skeins – it particularly favors a recent Koigu Collector’s Club colorway, The Pond.

These three shades would make a striking “Temperance Shawl,” or a “Free Your Fade,” by Andrea Mowry!

September’s special colorway is a peachy pink with streaks of deep teal and charcoal – an unusual and striking combination.

We’ve had WestKnits MKAL colorways on our minds – here’s one using this month’s Pop Up Club colorway with another solid shade of Smooshy Cashmere, and a skein of Malabrigo Ultimate Sock.

May’s special colorway is a delicate pastel somewhere between seafoam and pale blue, with a few bright speckles livening up these otherwise subdued skeins.

We love how the May 2022 color pairs with these semisolid shades of Smooshy Cashmere – perhaps a low contrast “Touchstone” shawl, “Rosemount Shawl,” or “Garter Snake Cowl.”

April’s special colorway is predominantly pink, streaked with ivory and lightly speckled with purple, green, blue, and orange.

I think it would be perfect combined with a strand of Shibui Silk Cloud or Isager Silk Mohair – head to our Silk Mohair + fingering weight blog post for loads of pattern ideas!

March’s special colorway is a wild blend of neons and brights streaked with black and white.

It reminds me of February’s Pop-Up Club colorway, but darker, which had me wondering if they could be part of a fade; these three would make a striking “Temperance Shawl,” or a “Free Your Fade,” by Andrea Mowry!

February’s special colorway is a wild blend of neons and brights on a backdrop of creamy white.

We got some coordinating semisolid shades of Smooshy Cashmere, as well – some offer high contrast, others may blend, but all of them complement their variegated cousins!

Here are a few color trios, thinking of Lesley Ann Robinson’s “Studio Sampler,” or Stephen West’s “The Doodler.”

November’s special colorway is a beauty, and hard to capture in photos – a semisolid blend of forest and emerald shades, moody and saturated.

It seems to fit right in with these two Koigu Collector’s Club colorways, Reef and Mountain Rain – these three would make a striking “Temperance Shawl,” or a “Free Your Fade,” by Andrea Mowry!

October’s skeins are a riot of color, a mix of pastels and deep, saturated tones – purple, orange, pink, seafoam, yellow, and more. To my eye, these colors play well with solids in Shibui Silk Cloud, a super soft lace weight mohair/silk blend.

How to combine them? You could work stripes to let the variegated Smooshy Cashmere shine against the contrasting Silk Cloud – check out “Birds of a Feather,” by Andrea Mowry. This asymmetrical triangular shawl would requires 2 skeins Smooshy Cashmere and 2 Silk Cloud ($124 total).

Or – you could hold them together, for a more blended, toned-down effect. Try the “Iris hat,” by Sari Nordlund, a ribbed beanie that requires 1 skein Smooshy Cashmere and 1 Silk Cloud ($62 total).

This September 2021 colorway is full of rich color, from blue, teal, and purple to rust, gold, and green. Each skein is unique!

What to make with these special skeins? Special socks come to mind; check out Dawn Henderson’s “Block Party Socks” and “Bonfire Socks,” Noma Ndlovu’s “Little Boxes Socks,” or for something simple, Tin Can Knits’ “Rye Light.”
