Bailey’s “Norma Sweater.”

We have a new sample up in the shop, and a new kit to make it – behold Bailey’s latest, the always popular “Norma Sweater.”

Though it’s only existed for a couple of years, My Favorite Things’ “Norma Sweater” feels like a classic. Originally released as a part of the Isager Archives Collection, “Norma Sweater” is a raglan pullover with a high mock neck.

Its distinctive colorwork pattern is reminiscent of 60s and 70s knitting traditions, and since this pattern was published, several iterations have followed – “New Norma,” “Norma Beanie,” and “Norma Blouse.” We still love the original, which Bailey knit in her own special colorway: charcoal, ultraviolet, and turquoise.

Most of the “Norma Sweater” is knit with Isager Tweed and Silk Mohair held together, a luxurious combination that’s soft and comfortable, with elegant drape.

One of the contrast colors stands out in a slightly different texture, knit with Tvinni held double; in Bailey’s colorway, this is a discontinued shade of ultraviolet, so we have a limited number of kits available.

We also carry Norma Sweater Kits in the original colorway, which Katie used to knit the “Norma” below.

I love the stripe of blue she included on one of the cuffs, a little bit of whimsical asymmetry to make the sweater her own.

Thanks to Bailey and Katie for sharing their sweaters! If you’re inspired to make one of your own, check our our Norma Sweater Kits, or our full selection of Isager yarns to put your own colors together. We can’t wait to see what you make!
