Knit the “Novice Sweater” (Jan-March)
Instructor: Anne Derby
Wednesday evenings: January 14, February 25, March 18, April 8, 2026; from 5:45 - 7:45 pm
Make your first sweater, and have it finished in time for cool temperatures this fall! "Novice Sweater" by PetiteKnit is knit from the top down, with no seaming involved. Beginning at the neck, you'll increase throughout the circular yoke, then knit the body straight down to the hem in the round. Some stitches are put on hold until you use them to knit and shape the sleeves. The neck and cuffs are ribbed while the rest of the sweater is stockinette, two stitch patterns even a novice can confidently execute - bring those skills to class, and Anne will guide you through gauge, shaping, and top-down sweater construction.
Experience: Students should be comfortable casting on, knitting, purling, and working in the round.
