Instructor: Anne Derby Wednesdays: November 19, December 3, and 17, 2025; 5:45 - 7:15 pm Sara Elizabeth Kellner's Victorian Housecats to Knit has been a popular book here at our shop, filled with charming patterns for stuffed cats in many shapes and sizes. A handknit cat is a great gift, whether for a cat owner, a cat lover who is sadly allergic, or just for yourself. The cats in this book are knit in one piece, no fiddly appendages to sew on, and partially stuffed as you go. Anne had so much fun knitting her "Porch Cat" that upon completion, she immediately cast on for the "Window Cat." Join this class for guidance and camaraderie as you knit a Victorian Housecat of your choice. Pick your favorite feline, and Anne will guide you through the knitting, answering questions and demonstrating techniques as your cat takes shape. Experience Level: Students should be familiar with basic increases and decreases, and comfortable working in the round on either circular or double-pointed needles. Materials needed:

• Victorian Housecats to Knit, by Sara Elizabeth Kellner - available for purchase in the shop
• Yarn in the colors and weight for the cat you choose ~ yardage as indicated in the pattern. HYS staff will help you select appropriate yarns. Anne held multiple strands to get both the desired gauge and coloration for her cat.
• Circular and/or double pointed needles in sizes for your cat, as described in the pattern
• Tapestry needle

Materials available for purchase at the shop. Please be sure to have materials with you for the first class.

Class Policy -

• Masks are optional in the classroom and in the shop.
• Refunds for pre-paid class registrations can be made only if we are notified at least two weeks in advance of the beginning of class.
• Missed classes will not be made up unless the instructor was unable to teach or the shop was unexpectedly closed.
• Refunds for missed classes cannot be made.
• We require a minimum of three students for each class; in the event that signups do not meet that minimum level, the class will be cancelled, and we'll issue refunds for class registrations.
