Colorwork pullover: thepetiteknitter’s “mayflower jumper”
Instructor: Katherine Applegate
Saturdays: August 17, 24, September 14, October 5, 2024; 3 - 5 pm.
Join Katherine's class to knit the beautiful "mayflower jumper," by thepetiteknitter. This size-inclusive colorwork yoke pullover is knit from the top down at a DK weight gauge. This can be achieved with a single DK weight yarn, or by holding two strands of fingering weight yarn together. Short rows enhance the fit of the garment, and the colorwork section of the pattern is charted. Once the yoke is complete, the sleeves and body of the sweater are knit down to a cropped or regular length hem.
During the first class we will read through the pattern, discuss color dominance, and short rows. Homework will be to swatch in the round and to block the swatch. In the next class, we will determine our gauge and begin the actual sweater.
Experience: Students should be comfortable casting on, knitting and purling, working in the round, and be familiar with colorwork and charts. Sweater knitting experience is a plus, but is not required.
