Classes are listed by beginning date.
Space is limited to six students at each session so please let me know as soon as possible if you plan to attend.

Description: This is a 3-part class introducing students to cabled knitting in the round to finish a stunning adult cabled hat. We will cover knitting in the round, cabled knitting, hat finishing techniques, and making pompoms. Class assumes knowledge of the knit and purl stitch. Materials needed and available for purchase at the shop are: 16 inch circular needles size US 9, a set of DPNs size 9, a stitch marker, a cable needle, and a tapestry needle. Yarn needed is about 150 yds of chunky yarn or 300 yds of DK yarn (that will be held double throughout). There are two finished examples in the shop made with alpaca yarn to view. |

Description: Learn the skills you need to start your first sweater - from pattern and yarn selection to gauge, sweater sizing and pattern reading. Please bring a sweater that fits you well to the first class for sizing information. It is expected that materials for this class will be purchased at the shop. |

Description: Join us for 6 classes of fun and intrigue, and knit one of these colorful designs - either Isager's Star (Inca Knits) or Summer in Tokyo (Japanese Inspired Knits). We will play with color choice, and practice various methods for holding the 2 yarns. We will also address trapping, joining yarns, steeks, and seaming. The first class will begin early in order to spend time in the shop selecting yarn/colors - please read through your pattern before then, and come with questions! |

Description: We will be using Elizabeth Zimmerman's classic pattern to knit a garter stitch adult-sized jacket. Please read through the pattern before our first class. We will spend the first hour of the first class in the store, selecting yarn(s) for the jacket. Then we will head into the classroom to discuss the pattern and to begin making swatches. Knitting skills we will address include: different methods for casting on, determining gauge, how to pick up a dropped stitch when knitting garter stitch, adjusting a pattern to the weight of yarn you choose, seaming, adding an I-cord trim. The seesions are spread out to give you time to complete the knitting. |

Description: Beginning knitting will introduce you to yarn, gauge, casting on, two basic stiches: knit and purl, and binding off. The introductory knitting project will be a scarf - with knit and purl you will be able to create a 'sampler' scarf with several stiches to add to your tool box. This will also be a good class for those who want to refresh their skills. Materials available for purchase at the shop. |

Description: In this class you will learn colorwork, "invisible" thumb, border techniques, chart interpretation, and make the most beautiful mittens in the world. Anna Zilboorgs Magnificent Mittens and Socks" is included in the cost of the class; yarn purchase is additional. We will use about 100 gms each of worsted weight wool in two colors, size 4 or 5 dpns, stitch markers, point protectors, and about 172 3mm silver beads (optional). This is not a class for beginners. |
